Welcome Back Breakfast | Sept. 15 at 8:00 AM
Dear Grizzly Families,
We want to remind everyone that we are hosting our Welcome Back Breakfast this Friday morning from 8:00 am – 8:45 am. We are excited to meet many of our families that are able to join in the event and hope that you get the opportunity to meet with some of our teachers and staff, as well as our School Council members who have organized the event.
Parking
We understand that parking can be limited. We still must require that you do not park in the bus zone or in the staff parking lot. We will have a teacher welcoming parents as well as monitoring the parking to help/inform parents where they can park. Parents looking for additional parking must park along the sidewalks beyond the bus zones and/or at the community centre across the field from the school (accessed from 41 Avenue SW).
Time
We will be serving food to families from 8:00 am until 8:45 am. Parents are welcome to stay with their child while having breakfast and visiting with other parents or staff members. We ask that all parents leave the school campus no later than 9:00 am, at which time students will enter the school for our usual 9:10 am start of the school day.
Supervision
Supervision will start at 8:30 am. We ask that parents stay with their child until 8:30 am. We will have supervisors in front of the school, on the tarmac, on the play ground and throughout the side and back fields. Please note that attendance will not be checked until after school starts and the students are in their classrooms.
Bus Students
We will allow all bus students to participate in the breakfast. Bus students will be offered food upon their arrival at school, regardless of the time that the bus arrives.
Food Location
Food serving areas will be located at the NW corner of Glamorgan School, in the gymnasium and, weather permitting, outside. Families will queue up on the tarmac for both and be directed to the indoor or outdoor line, as they prefer.
Eating Area
There will be limited indoor seating, offered to those who use the indoor food line. Families are also encouraged to, weather permitting, bring a blanket and join other families picnicking outside the school.
Food
It will be a continental-style breakfast with attendees each being offered a baked item (croissant or muffin), a piece of fruit, and beverage (juice box or water for students and other kids; coffee, tea, or water for adults). Don’t forget to pack the usual Friday snack for school, particularly given the students being active with the Terry Fox Run.
Food Ingredients/Allergies
An ingredients list for the food served will be posted at the event. Students and family members unable to eat baked goods (nut allergy, celiac, …) will be offered an extra fruit option; please identify your food restriction to our food servers.
Volunteers
Parents are still asked to sign up as volunteers for the Welcome Back Breakfast, to help make it a success: https://signup.com/go/PhkBwkC Police clearance is not required for any volunteer positions still needing to be filled. If you have questions about volunteering, please reach out to School Council via glamorganfundraising@gmail.com.
The Welcome Back Breakfast is a great opportunity for community building amongst our school families and with our school staff. We hope everyone will enjoy the food and the chance to see old friends and meet new ones. Please remember that the event is run by a small group of parent volunteers and that our neighbours in the community and at St. Andrew’s School will be going about their normal morning routines. Thank you in advance for your patience and courtesy.
Can't wait to see everyone on this Friday!
Kind regards,
Fred Mattersdorfer
Principal - Glamorgan
