Dear Grizzly Families,

We are delighted to welcome both our returning students and those joining us for the first time to Glamorgan School on Tuesday, September 2. For our Kindergarten families, please note that half of our Kindergarten students will begin on Tuesday, with the remaining half starting on Wednesday as part of our staggered entry process. 

Our dedicated staff officially returned Wednesday this week, and by now you should have received a welcome introductory email that was sent to families from their child's classroom teacher.  If you have not received an email, please refer to the map to meet with the corresponding Grade team teachers of your child.

Office Communication

As we prepare for the school year, our office is experiencing a high volume of inquiries. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to respond to all messages in a timely manner. If you need to come, please do not park in the staff parking lot.  As of Tuesday, we will have three amazing team members in the office who will responding to all phone calls, emails and in-person meetings. Please ensure that you enter the school through the main office doors only - all other doors are for students only. 

Important Reminders for a Safe and Smooth Start

Safety First

Morning drop-off can be both exciting and emotional. Please ensure you park only in designated areas or use the Kiss & Go zone. Avoid parking on crosswalks and allow space for students to cross safely. U-turns and double-parking are not permitted. We encourage families to park on the west side of the fence for easier access.

*Please note that ATCO is doing work outside of the school by the crosswalk, and it may interfere with parking until they have completed their project

Where do I meet my teacher?

  • Kindergarten: Students and parents will meet outside the Kindergarten doors and will enter with their child's teacher and parents for their introductory welcome to 'school' .   All Kindergarten parents are invited to attend the 'Tea and Tears/Cheers' to meet with our School Council and Administration in the school staff room.  Coffee, tea, lemonade and cookies will be provided!
  • Grade 1: Students will meet outside their classroom doors and enter the school with their teacher, as outlined in your welcome letter 
  • Grade 2 and Grade 3: Students will meet in their designated areas on the map and meet with their teachers, who will welcome students, take attendance and guide them to their classrooms.
  • Grades 4-6: Students will meet in their designated areas on the map and meet with their teachers who will direct them to their designated classrooms
  • Grades 7–9: Students will meet outside the Gymnasium doors will they will be directed inside for a welcome assembly by their classroom teachers before going to their classroom.
  • *Staff members will be outside with class lists to assist with parents and student if needed.

Uniform Reminder

  • All students are expected to wear their formal uniform on the first day of school. Including all black indoor school shoes. Formal uniforms will be required on Mondays only, unless there is a special event. If Monday is a holiday, formal attire is not required on the following Tuesday. A separate email will be sent outlining uniform expectations and the importance of meeting daily requirements.
