The Grizzly Update Nov. 6-10 | Remembrance Day, Picture Day, Volunteer, Webinar

Hello Grizzly Families,

Welcome to November! We hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready to head into a short week.

Below we have included a few updates/reminders and noted some upcoming important dates. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Indigenous Veterans Day and Remembrance Day Ceremony

  • Where: Glamorgan School Gymnasium
  • When: 9:30 am K-1 Ceremony & 10:30 am 5-9 Ceremony
  • We invite our families to attend our school ceremony on Wednesday, November 8th to remember the sacrifices and achievements of those who have served our country in uniform. Events like these that pass on the traditions of remembrance are also important ways to show our appreciation to Veterans and their families. The first assembly featuring songs and performances by our Grade 1-4 students will begin at 9:30 am.  The second assembly featuring readings and performances by our Grade 5-9 students will begin at 10:30 am.  The Grade 9 Band will be performing in both assemblies. Parents wanting to attend may choose one of the assemblies. We kindly ask that families bringing small children respect the solemn nature of the ceremony and ensure that they are sitting with you and can remain quite throughout.
  • Please note, this is a formal assembly and all students will be required to wear their formal uniform
  • Donations – All students will be receiving a poppy to wear to the ceremony.  We are collecting donations at the office / classrooms if students would like to support our veterans.

Picture Day

  • Tomorrow, November 6th is our Picture Retake day. Any student who is interested in having their photo retaken will be called down tomorrow throughout the day.

Volunteer Clearance

  • Information was sent out to families last month regarding new updates to our Volunteer Clearance process. We highly encourage everyone who can to complete the process so they can volunteer at school events and activities when they are able to. We are well aware of the vast impact volunteers have on our school community, and appreciate any and all help we can have from our amazing community.

Child & Youth Well-Being | Family & Caregiver Series 2023-24

  • The Calgary Board of Education is inviting all families and caregivers to join in an online series focusing on child and youth well-being.
