We hope everyone had a fantastic long weekend with their families! We are excited to be back together on Tuesday.

Parent/School Council Update

Thank you so much to everyone who has been involved in our Parent/School council this year, your hard work and support has made such a difference at Glamorgan School. We certainly hope that many parents/guardians can attend our final meeting of the year, the AGM, that will now take place on May 22 at 6:30 PM instead of May 29.

Spelling Bee is Back!

Thank you so much for supporting our Spelling Bee fundraiser!  This Tuesday May 21, participate in Toonie Tuesday by bringing $2 and get an entry for the amazing individual prizes below:

Tuesday is also a day when students are encouraged to bring any cash or cheque Spelling Bee donations to school.  Don’t forget to use your donation envelope labeled with your student’s code, or to otherwise note your student’s name/code on the donation, so that your child is entered in the prize draws! (We will issue Tax Receipts for donations more than $50 so please add the complete name and address you wish to have on the tax receipt).

Keep donating and getting ready for the Spelling Bee and Grizzly Wordly Challenge because there are MORE PRIZES to be won!

  • CASUAL WEEK for the whole school if our $7000 fundraising goal is reached!  
  • Grades K-6: BONUS DPA with Mr. Mattersdorfer/Ms Nixon PLUS an ICE CREAM PARTY for:
    • The class with the highest fundraising participation rate!
    • The class that raises the largest average amount per student!
  • Grades 7-9: MOVIE AND POPCORN PARTY if Junior High raises $1500!  
  • ICE CREAM PARTIES for the classes with the highest spelling score in each grade grouping of K-3 and 4-6 and for the Grizzly Wordly Champions in 7-9!

  • TOONIE TUESDAY:  Tuesday, May 21
    • Bring $2 to school to get a bonus entry in the draws!
  • SPELLING BEE and GRIZZLY WORDLY CHALLENGE:  Friday, May 24

K-6 Spelling Bee will be in written form. Teachers will distribute words so students can practice! The Bee will be on Thursday, May 23, for Kindergarten classes that do not have school May 24. The Junior High students will participate in a face-to-face Wordle challenge on May 24.

Used Uniform Sale

  • The Glamorgan Used Uniform Sale will take place June 20 from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. If you have any used informs you would like to donate to our upcoming sale please drop them off at the office!

Popcorn Recess

  • Popcorn Recess is coming up on Thursday, May 30, 2024. The deadline to order is Thursday, May 16, 2024. To order for your child, please complete the online order form on the Healthy Hunger website.
  • The school cannot accept any orders or payments at the school. All orders must be done through the Healthy Hunger website.  Late orders will not be accepted. 
  • If cost is a barrier, you can request a free bag of popcorn: Google Form

Glamorgan Minecraft Update!

  • Special congratulations goes to the Power Squad - Adrian and Ryan Olya ('Oh-Lee-Uh') in divison 1.  The CBE Judging Committee has selected their submission as one of three finalists in the Div I Haultain ('Hall - Tay-N) Park category. On June 11, the CBE will be hosting an award ceremony at the Central Library. Mayor Gondek, CBE Chief Superintendent Jo Pitman, Elder Saa’kokoto ('Sa-Coke-Ah-Toe'), and other dignitaries and community members will be there to congratulate Adrian and Ryan and other finalists on their achievement.

Child & Youth Well-Being | Family & Caregiver Series 2023-24

  • The Calgary Board of Education is inviting all families and caregivers to join in an online series focusing on child and youth well-being. These sessions are hosted in partnership with Alberta Health Services and will explore topics such as vaping, brain development, mental health, and sexual health.
  • These sessions are offered free of charge and provide information, resources, helplines, and services to support healthy child and youth development. Please see the attached document for more information on these upcoming sessions.
