Happy Friday, Grizzly Families!

This week, we had the opportunity to connect with many of you during our virtual parent-teacher conferences. Thank you to all the families who were able to attend and engage in conversations about your child's learning and progress.

In Physical Education, the students wrapped up their gymnastics unit and had an absolute blast practicing their skills! It’s been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and growth throughout the unit.

We wish everyone a restful and joyful spring break! Enjoy the time with family and friends, and we look forward to seeing you back soon, refreshed and ready for the weeks ahead!

Glamorgan Science Fair and City Science Fair

Last week, we proudly hosted the Glamorgan School Science Fair, and we couldn’t be more impressed by the dedication, creativity, and scientific thinking our students demonstrated. After months of hard work, 48 incredible projects were showcased, reflecting the passion and curiosity of our young scientists.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the volunteers who generously gave their time to judge the fair, and an extra special shoutout to Mr. Rip for his unwavering support and dedication that truly drove the entire process, and to Mr. Klaassen for his valuable and ongoing support.

Congratulations to the students whose projects earned them a spot at the Calgary City Science Fair! While we could only send 11 projects forward, the talent on display made it clear that many more were deserving of the opportunity.

We are so proud of each and every student who participated — your dedication and enthusiasm truly shone through!

School Uniform Requirements Reminder

We’ve noticed an increase in students not following the Traditional Learning Centre (TLC) uniform guidelines, with frequent instances of incorrect attire. As part of the TLC program, students and families committed to these standards, which reflect our school’s values. Formal uniforms are required on Mondays and for special events, while informal uniforms are allowed on other days. Please refer to the attached document for detailed uniform expectations. Families of students who do not adhere to the policy will be contacted, and a meeting may be arranged to discuss their commitment to the program. Thank you for your support in maintaining our school’s and the TLC program’s standards.

Celebrating Our Diverse School Community

We are thrilled to share that, through a recent demographic survey, we discovered that students within our school community speak 36 different primary languages at home! In our continued efforts to foster a greater sense of belonging and highlight the diversity within our student body, we want to make these languages more visible throughout our school.

A big thank you to the families who have already submitted the languages spoken at home. So far, we’ve received a number of wonderful contributions however, we still have many more languages to go, and we’d love to hear from you if your family speaks a language other than English at home.

To help us celebrate our diversity, we are asking families to share the language they speak at home, along with the correct way to say “Welcome” or “Hello” in that language. This will allow us to ensure we are using the correct words to greet and honor all members of our school community.

  • If your family speaks a language other than English at home, please email us at tbnixon@cbe.ab.ca with the following information:
The language you speak at home
The correct pronunciation and spelling of “Welcome” or “Hello” in that language

We appreciate your support in helping us create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all our students!
