Happy Sunday, Grizzly Families!
We hope that everyone had a wonderful Fall Break with their families. This week was short, but we are already looking ahead with excitement to next week. Make sure to check out the Upcoming Important Dates section for Picture Day, Fun Lunch, and Be You Day!
Please see below for some important updates, upcoming dates, and dates of significance.
Gymnastics Begins This Week
It’s time for our Gymnastics Unit at Glamorgan again!!! This unit is a Grizzly Favourite!!!
Our gymnastics unit will begin on Tuesday November 18 and run until Thursday December 12. ** Thursday March 13 will not be a gymnastics day due to Science Fair in the gym.
Due to the safety/clothing requirements for gymnastics, there will be a change in our uniform policy for our K – Gr. 6 students for the duration of this physical education unit. On your child’s gym days, students are asked to wear a pair of athletic pants/track pants or shorts and a t-shirt. Sweatshirts/hoodies and sweaters should be left in classrooms. On all non-gym days, students are required to wear uniforms as usual. Girls are not to wear skirts or tights/leotards with the feet in them on gym days.
There is no change in the uniform policy for junior high students as they change into gym strip for their PE classes that meet the requirements for the gymnastics unit already.
Gymnastics’ Head to Toe Ready to Go List
- Hair: long hair pulled back with appropriate hair ties/ elastics
- Shirt: one layer that can be tucked in – no hoodies or dangling drawstrings
- Pants: track pants/athletic pants or shorts, no belts or zippers
- Ankles: pants rolled up if ankles are covered
- Toes: bare feet, gymnastics slippers or snuggly fitting trampoline socks (these have grips on the bottom of the socks)
- No leggings/tights with feet in them
- No Skirts
- No Ties
- No jewelry. Please remove at home to avoid injury or loss
* If jewelry must be worn for religious reasons, it will be covered with tape, so it cannot be caught on any equipment when using the Canadian Climber apparatus. The safest thing for your child and their jewelry is to leave it at home. Taping jewelry can take a long time if a large number of students require this and this can strongly affect how much time your child has to participate in the gymnastics’ class.
See the below information for which days your child has their Physical Education class and should wear the above suggested clothing for their gymnastics unit (Mar 3 – Mar 20)
