Happy Monday, Grizzly Families!

Last week may have been short and chilly, but it was filled with incredible learning opportunities! While our staff participated in Calgary City Teachers' Convention and the CBE Staff Association Convention, students engaged in diverse and enriching experiences. Grade 5 students enjoyed the energetic rhythms of a West African drumming experience, while our Grade 7/8 students took in a fantastic performance during their Storybook Theatre trip. It was a week of hands-on learning, creativity, and cultural exploration!

Dance Residency

We are excited to announce that our school will be hosting a dance residency with SoundKreations from February 18 to February 27! Students will have the opportunity to explore and develop their creativity, movement skills, and teamwork through a variety of dance styles. This residency aligns with Alberta’s Physical Education Program of Studies, focusing on physical literacy, personal and social responsibility, and expressive movement. It will be a great way for students to deepen their understanding of movement and enhance their physical education learning experience.

West African Drumming Artist-in-Residence

A massive thank you to parent council for providing our school with the opportunity to bring in the West African Drumming artist in residence! The grade 5 students had an absolutely wonderful time learning about North and West African traditions, and playing drums all week long!

Pink Shirt Day – February 26, 2025

Pink Shirt Day is observed annually in Canada on the last Wednesday of February to raise awareness about bullying prevention. The initiative began in Nova Scotia in 2007 when students David Shepherd and Travis Price witnessed a classmate being bullied for wearing a pink shirt. In response, they purchased 50 pink shirts and encouraged their peers to wear them in solidarity, sparking a nationwide movement.

Recognized across Canada and in other countries, Pink Shirt Day promotes kindness and inclusion, particularly in schools and youth settings. Students at Glamorgan School are invited to wear pink shirts on this day to show their support for the anti-bullying cause!
