Happy Friday, Grizzly Families!

This week was filled with exciting off-campus experiences for many of our students! Our Grade 2 students had a fantastic time exploring The Confluence, our Grade 1 students enjoyed a memorable visit to Heritage Park, and our Grade 8 and 9 performance band students headed off to band camp for an unforgettable few days of music and connection. These enriching opportunities brought so much fun and learning, and we are incredibly grateful to all the volunteers and staff who helped make these trips possible through their time, energy, and organization.

Please see below for some important updates, upcoming dates, and dates of significance.

Volunteer Tea Save the Date

We’re excited to announce that our annual Volunteer Tea will be held on Wednesday, June 5! This special event is our way of saying thank you for all the time, care, and support you’ve given throughout the year.

More details and formal invitations will be shared soon. In the meantime, please mark your calendars!

Celebrating Our Diverse School Community

We are thrilled to share that, through a recent demographic survey, we discovered that students within our school community speak 36 different primary languages at home! In our continued efforts to foster a greater sense of belonging and highlight the diversity within our student body, we want to make these languages more visible throughout our school.

A big thank you to the families who have already submitted the languages spoken at home. So far, we’ve received a number of wonderful contributions however, we are still seeking the following languages: Tigrinya, Russian, Oromo, Punjabi, Gujarati, Tibetan, Korean, Nepali, Amharic, Malayalam, Mongolian, Oriya, Tagalog, Portuguese, Sinhalese, Serbian, Konkani, Azerbaijani.

If your family speaks one of the languages listed above, please email us at tbnixon@cbe.ab.ca with the following information:

  • The language you speak at home
  • The correct pronunciation and spelling of “Welcome” or “Hello” in that language

We appreciate your support in helping us create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all our students!
