Thank you for your continued support in helping our students build a caring, respectful, and inclusive community. Please remember that there is no school for all students on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.  

Care of Personal Property and Cell Phone Reminder 

The school is not responsible for the loss or damage of personal property. Students are advised to leave items of value at home and not share their locker combinations. Students cannot use personal mobile devices during the school day. Devices must be turned off or set to silent and kept in backpacks or lockers.

Healthy Hunger is starting up again for 2026-27 school year

Please check for the email response from Healthy Hunger with your order details. The email is confirmation that the order has been placed. You can always check/modify/delete your order onHealthyHunger.ca until any order deadline. 

The school will not take any orders or payments, all orders must go through the Healthy Hunger website. However, if you have problems with your order, please contact glamorgan@cbe.ab.ca 

Bike Safety at school- Riding bikes to and from school 

All students are required to dismount from their bike and walk their bikes only on school property until they are well off school property, to keep everyone safe. Please discuss this with your children if they ride their bike to school. 

The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) prohibits riding scooters, skateboards, and rollerblades on school property due to safety and liability concerns. Students may use scooters as transportation to and from school, but must dismount, carry, or walk them upon reaching school grounds and store them securely in designated areas or lockers.

Families are reminded to complete their required annual CBE forms as soon as possible. If you need support with this process, please contact the office. If you have already completed this, pls disregard this message.

Kindergarten Table Saw Volunteer from Home Needed: 

Is there someone near to the school who has a table saw set up at home that would be willing to cut down 5 'paper cupboard' shelves for Mrs. Schmidt?  They were mis-cut by mere centimeters and need a small adjustment.  If so, please email:  cmschmidt@cbe.ab.ca 

School Council: Year-End Celebrations Committee  

Glamorgan Parent Council has an amazing opportunity for parents with children in Grades K, 6 or 9. We require up to 9 volunteers to help with year-end celebrations for these grades, which are considered milestone years for our children. Volunteers are needed to help plan, coordinate, and execute the celebrations. 

Role Overview: Lead the planning and execution of memorable year-end milestone celebrations for Kindergarten, Grade 6, or Grade 9 students by partnering closely with teachers, school staff, and the School Council. This role is for one year only, for parents whose child is in one of the above grades.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Teacher Collaboration: Meet with grade-level teachers to align event dates, program structure, themes, and venue/classroom needs. 
  • Event Planning & Execution: Design and organize celebration details (e.g., decorations, activities, light refreshments, certificates/gifts) and oversee smooth setup, run-of-show, and cleanup. 
  • Budget Management: Work within the budget pre-approved by the School Council, tracking all expenses and submitting receipts for reimbursement. 
  • Parent Communication: Draft timely updates for council newsletters, emails, or flyers to inform parents about event details and recruit additional day-of event volunteers. 
  • Council Liaison: Provide brief monthly progress updates during School Council meetings leading up to the events. 

Time Commitment: 

  • Approximately 1-2 hours per month, increasing to 4-5 hours during the month of celebrations.

Orange Shirt Day and Truth and Reconciliation  

Dear Families, 

As part of our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, Glamorgan School will commemorate Orange Shirt Day on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. 

Orange Shirt Day is a time to honor the resilience, culture, and experiences of Indigenous children, families, and residential school survivors, and to remember the children who did not return home. The orange shirt serves as a powerful symbol of the truth that Every Child Matters. 

  • What to wear: We encourage all students and staff to wear an orange shirt (or any orange clothing/item) on Tuesday, September 29. If students choose not to wear an orange shirt, them your child would need to come in their regular uniform shirt- This is not a casual clothing day 
  • No School – Wednesday, Sept. 30: Please note that schools are closed on Wednesday, September 30, for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a non-operational day across the Calgary Board of Education.
