Hello Grizzly Families,

Below we have included a few updates/reminders and noted some upcoming important dates. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

The Grizzly Store Returns!

The online school store will only be open until March 17. You can purchase Grizzly hoodies, t-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts, track-pants, and hats.  Spirit Wear can be worn on Spirit Fridays, hats outside only but any time. Unless students have Grizzly track-pants, students are expected to wear uniform dress pants or skirts with their Hoodies and t-shirts.

Student-Led Conferences

As we head into Spring Break, we are very excited to invite all families to attend our upcoming student-led conferences on Thursday, March 21. These conferences are an opportunity for your child to demonstrate the remarkable progress they have made throughout the past year and to guide their families through their own learning journey. Students will partake in variety of instructional tasks, as well as work through Power School and Google Classroom. Specific details regarding time slots and booking will be sent to you this week. We look forward to seeing everyone then!

Traffic Safety Concerns

A number of families have contacted the school regarding their traffic and safety concerns with our students coming and going from school. You can help keep the school zone safe by reporting any traffic issues you may witness. The number of reports is tracked and will make an impact on safety around our school. Thank you to everyone who is watching out for our students!

Morning Drop-Off

There has been an increased number of students over the past few weeks dropped off by parents/guardians prior to our soft entry. Please ensure you are not dropping your children off until 9:00am. Unfortunately, we do not have the necessary supervision for students who are dropped off early so please remember, you are responsible for your children until 9:00am.

Free Youth Sports Program

The Free Youth Sports Program is offered by an Australian Football club based out of Calgary and will be offering sessions every Thursday from 6pm-8pm at A.E. Cross School. This program is coached by members of the Australian Football Canadian Women's National Team. This is a great opportunity for students to receive mentorship and guidance from the best in the country. The program will conclude with the participants playing a game at the halftime of the AFL Alberta Club team Stampede Cup tournament on July 6. Register!

Child & Youth Well-Being | Family & Caregiver Series 2023-2024

The Calgary Board of Education is inviting all families and caregivers to join in an online series focusing on child and youth well-being. These sessions are hosted in partnership with Alberta Health Services and will explore topics such as vaping, brain development, mental health, and sexual health.

These sessions are offered free of charge and provide information, resources, helplines, and services to support healthy child and youth development. Please see the attached document for more information on these upcoming sessions. Link: Child and Youth Well-Being
