Good afternoon Grizzly Families! 

This week was packed with fun and excitement at the ice rink! Our Grade 3 to 9 students had the amazing opportunity to skate at the Glamorgan Community Rink. A heartfelt thank-you to all the incredible volunteers who helped make this activity possible, and a special shout out to our dedicated teachers for organizing such a fantastic activity.

Accessing Online Report Cards through MyCBE

​​Families will be able to view online student report cards on Jan. 27, 2025. Parents and guardians can sign in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. For best access to information, log in to the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool App. For technical support on accessing MyCBE, visit Technical Support for Students & Parents for more information.

Wrestling 

All practices will take place at A.E. Cross School, 3445 37 Street SW, Calgary, AB T3E 3C2. 

Practice - Monday, January 27 from 4pm to 5pm Divisionals - Tuesday, January 28

Depart A.E. Cross School for Genesis Centre (7555 Falconridge Bldvd NE #10, Calgary, AB T3J 0C9) at 8:45am 

Return to A.E. Cross School from divisionals at 3:30pm 

Parents can drive their child instead of taking the bus, but please inform Mr. Howey if this is your plan

Boys Volleyball 

Game - Monday, January 27 from 4:15pm to 5:15pm at Glamorgan School 

Practice - Tuesday, January 28 from 8am to 9am

Girls Volleyball

Lego Club

Many students have been having a great time at Lego Club these past weeks. They are so creative with their building projects. The students will build their last project on January 27 or 28. Please be on the lookout for an electronic permission slip that will come home via Messenger early this week. Students will be bringing home a paper copy of the signature portion of the permission slip. Please sign and return this paper copy before Monday, February 3. All students are welcome to attend the Glamorgan Lego Movie, but only those with a signed permission slip will be able to receive a small bag of Lego candy. We sincerely thank Glamorgan School Council for the purchase of these candies. The movie will be shown in Room 1 this year, according to the schedule that is included in the permission slip.

Next Year – First Day of classes is Tuesday September 2, 2025

We wanted to send out an early reminder about the importance of all students being at school on the first day back next year. Due to the number of students not returning in time from summer break over the last three years, we are requiring that all Grade 1-9 students are here on the first day of classes on Tuesday September 2, 2025.  Students not in attendance may be removed from the TLC program and be required to attend their community school when they return to school late from holidays. 

Rationale for Removal

  • As an alternative program, our last day to confirm our school population is September 5, 2025 and a decreased enrolment throughout the remainder of the month has a significant impact on school funding and an increased possibility of having to remove staff
  • We have limited time to invite new students who would love to come to Glamorgan
  • Allow the opportunity for families who have children on our waitlist to get into the TLC program
  • Calgary Board of Education requires that all students registered in alternative programs must be in attendance prior to September 5, 2025 to count towards enrollment

For any family who knows they will not be able to make it for the first day of classes, you must let school administration know and confirm return date. Due to the strict rules with school funding through Alberta Education, we may require proof of travel. Please contact glamorgan@cbe.ab.ca with the subject line heading: Returning Late 2025-2026 or Planning on Leaving Glamorgan School to ensure that your child will be able to attend Glamorgan next year.

Additionally, if you know you are leaving Glamorgan and going to a new school starting next year, please contact the office right away.  This will help our office register any new students on our waitlist, as well as help our feeder schools, so they are prepared for student population and funding numbers heading into next year.
